To be honest with you, I was hoping to have more done by now but alas. On my orignal timetable I made for myself, I was hoping to be done within the next 2/3 weeks but as I am only just finishing off my toiles, I can't see that happening! All toiles aside from the last two dresses are now done as you can see in the pictures. As they were done and these pictures were taken a few weeks back (it's hard to remember to blog when you have a million other things on your mind!) I have since ordered and bought a load of fabric and have started some of the final pieces in final fabric. I have to say, making the first ever cut on final fabric from outfit two was totally terrifing but I soon got used to it with the angel on one shoulder saying 'it's only fabric, it won't kill you and it's not the end of the world if it goes wrong' and the devil on my other say 'but at £50 per meter, it IS the end of the world and worse if it messes up!!', and then the angel winning as I would have ended up making nothing ever if I never cut anything!

Outfits one, two and three were all pretty easy to make, the skirt from outfit three was a little tricky to make it as big as I wanted but I got there in the end by using multiple rounded strips to make the body of the skirt. The most challenging piece so far has to be the trousers of outfit four. Originally I wanted to have these made from a non-stretch faux leather and to be skin tight, but using thick calico for this wasn’t my best idea I’ve ever had. I really love the shape and how they would look if they had stretch in then, but unfortunately they didn’t fit the model so I’ve decided a slight stretch in the fabric would be beneficial. That way there doesn’t need to be too many darts to make them fit perfectly to one mannequin/person, and they can be worn by many people with a better result.
