To break up the pattern cutting and toiling a bit, I think I'll try to do other odd things like samples, finding final fabrics, and more research so I don't go totally insane!
My first year helper, Jodie, has been helping me work on the sample for the petals on outfit three's cape and outfit five's dress. We started out using circular shaped piece of material but it resulted in the petals looking sparse and floppy, not the ideal look! So Jodie experimented and researched a bit more and came back to me with the idea of using rectangular pieces. This was perfect as it gave them volume and a lovely shape. She made a little sample of what they would look like and it was perfect so she's currently at home making a larger sample for me in a potential final fabric of a soft, black, faux suedette. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it looks!
